The Boy in th Striped Pyjamas

On Sunday at 18h00 we sat down at the movies and watched this brilliant but sad film. I think you could have heard a pin drop at the end and when the lights came on we stayed seated witnessing the emptying of the cinema in the most subdued manner I have ever seen.

Isn't this also a book? What's it about (briefly, like 20 words)?

Yes it is a book. About a boy whose father is a Nazi and works at a concentration camp. They live in a house nearby and the son who is 8 goes exploring and makes friends with another 8 year old in the concentration camp, they chat on either side of the fence. He thinks it is like a farm, does not know of the attrocities that are taking place but begins to expect that perhaps his father is not a decent man..it is very sad by poignant.

Okay, I don't think I'll be watching it...struggled to sit through The Lion King (hey, his dad died in the beginning!)

LOL - I did not know anything about it before I went to see it and if I had known I might have avoided it but having said that I am glad that I have seen it...making sense???
